1. Of those students applying, most (about 90%) will get their first choice. It is possible to make a second choice if you have one, just in case you are not considered for your first choice. However, list only those courses you would be willing to accept if selected. It is not necessary to list two choices unless you have more than one. 2. There are certain courses that usually fill quickly with first choices. It would not be wise to list these as second choices, but rather choose one that might be available. Those courses that fill quickly are: Culinary Arts, Health Occupations, Cosmetology, and Masonry. 3. Many students want to know if they can combine a CTC program and an academic program in their home schools. This is possible; however, each student should allow his/her home school counselor to work closely with them to work out the details. Approximately 30% of GACTC graduates go on to education after high school. 4. It is strongly recommended to those students choosing a career and technology career pathway that the following prerequisite applied academic courses be obtained at the home school. 5. The prerequisites identified with each course assumes an average passing ability that has been mastered or is able to be mastered when a student enters the GACTC as a tenth grader. Applicants who do not meet the prerequisite criteria may have to consider an alternate career choice.
