As the reliance on technology continues to expand in offices, the role of the office professional has greatly evolved. The objective of the Administrative Office Specialist program is to prepare students to work in an office environment. The program is designed to provide students with a strong foundation in commonly used office computer software applications as well as office management skills.
Software programs taught include Microsoft Office Applications such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Publisher, and Electronic Communications. Other topics include Office Skills, Office Management, Accounting and Business Math. The GACTC is a registered Microsoft testing center, and students can maximize their employment and post-secondary opportunities by earning Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) certifications.
Career opportunities for office professionals exist in almost every type of business or industry. Students completing the program may be employed as administrative assistants in schools, hospitals, corporations, government agencies, legal and medical offices.
Students enrolling in this program are expected to:
