Course Description
If you enjoy helping others and find the health field
interesting, this course could be for you!
The Health Occupations class is a three-year program of study
and activities to provide:
 | entry-level training for various assisting or secretarial
positions in the health care field |
 | preparation for a variety of health care careers available
with further training after graduation |
 | training and instruction so that the student will be
eligible to take the Nurse Aide Competency test

 | Medical Law & Ethics |
 | Nutrition |
 | Disease Processes |
 | Basic Medical and Nursing Assisting Skills |
 | Medical Terminology |
 | Professional Appearance & Manners |
 | Telephone Etiquette |
 | First Aid & CPR |
 | Infection Control |
 | Medical Math

Students must be willing to practice the
medical vocation in an ethical manner. Students are required to wear
professional uniform in class and on clinical site.
Prerequisites:
 | Pleasant personality |
 | Good English speaking and writing skills |
 | Willingness to help others |
 | Capacity for both individual effort and team cooperation |
 | Desire for a career in a continually changing career |
 | A "C" or better grade average in high school
courses |
 | Understanding that study and hard work are necessary for
success in health care occupations |
 | Good work ethic traits including: good attendance,
positive attitude, and professional appearance.
