Course Description
Emergency Services is a three-year program designed to provide
students with a solid foundation of skills common to public safety.
Programs include law enforcement, fire fighting, and emergency medical services
(EMS).
Students are instructed in the criminal justice system,
including legal aspects, policing, criminal law, crime prevention, police
organization and tactics, emergency communications, and private security.
The fire fighting segment offers the state certified course of Essentials of
Fire Fighting and Emergency Response. The fire-fighting program includes
introduction to fire fighting, fire ground support, exterior fire fighting,
understanding hazardous materials, and vehicle accident rescue. Students
in the emergency medical service will be instructed in the state-certified First
Responder course. Those students who obtain the First Responder
certificate will move on to the more advanced EMT (Emergency Medical Technician)
course.
Upon graduation, students may use these specific skills for
immediate employment, or may choose to continue their education in one
particular field of interest.
