EMERGENCY SERVICES

Justin Keel, Instructor

Course Description

Emergency Services is a three-year program designed to provide students with a solid foundation of skills common to public safety.  Programs include law enforcement, fire fighting, and emergency medical services (EMS).

Students are instructed in the criminal justice system, including legal aspects, policing, criminal law, crime prevention, police organization and tactics, emergency communications, and private security.  The fire fighting segment offers the state certified course of Essentials of Fire Fighting and Emergency Response.  The fire-fighting program includes introduction to fire fighting, fire ground support, exterior fire fighting, understanding hazardous materials, and vehicle accident rescue.  Students in the emergency medical service will be instructed in the state-certified First Responder course.  Those students who obtain the First Responder certificate will move on to the more advanced EMT (Emergency Medical Technician) course.

Upon graduation, students may use these specific skills for immediate employment, or may choose to continue their education in one particular field of interest.

Prerequisites:  Basic Computer Skills, Basic Physical Conditioning
