CULINARY ARTS

Course Description

This is a three-year course open to all 10th, 11th, and 12th grade students.

This course offers a variety of career opportunities in the planning and preparation of food.  Jobs increase rapidly for those who are skilled in food management, operation and service.  Some of the areas of employment include:  Hotels, Motels, Restaurants, Hospitals, Nursing Homes, Institutions, Resorts, Private Clubs, Airlines, Schools, Industrial Plants, Military, Catering, Vending Operators, Food-Oriented Companies, Fast Food Operations, and Mobile Kitchens (Steamships, Railroad).  The industry needs people who are friendly, outgoing, energetic, and who prefer to work as part of a team rather than alone.  A neat, well-groomed appearance is essential.

Education Requirements:  Communication, Math, and English skills at current grade level essential for success in accordance with industry standards.

General Information:  Choosing a career in culinary arts can be very rewarding with limitless opportunities for advancement.  We offer a diversified hands-on training program preparing the student for gainful employment after graduation.
