COMPUTER TECHNOLOGY/
CISCO ACADEMY

Instructor, Timothy Keener

Course Description

Cisco Lab

This course is a three-year program that encompasses most of the areas that make up the present day computer field. The GACTC has been approved as a Certified Cisco Networking Academy and has adapted its curriculum to prepare students to qualify as a Cisco Certified Network Associate. This new program is included to position our graduates for jobs in the expanding field of Internet, local network connectivity, and computer repair.  The GACTC integrates the first four semesters of the Cisco curriculum, amounting to 720 hours; and A+ curriculum, amounting to 360 hours, into its Computer Technology/Cisco Academy program. The Cisco Academy approach takes advantage of a combination of web-based, instructor-led, and hands-on laboratories to teach students networking and information technology.

Today, there are more than 6400 Cisco Academies in all 50 states and 116 other countries involving more than 135,000 students. By successfully completing the 280 hours of instructions, students are prepared to qualify themselves as a Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) through passing the Cisco certification examination. Successful students may continue in semesters five through eight at selected postsecondary institutions to attain further certification as a Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP).

Cisco technology is used to route information both on business and corporate networks and on the internet.  Cisco academies prepare students to plan, design, construct, and manage networks linking hundreds, even thousands of computers -- often connecting those networks to the internet.

Students graduate from the program with a well-rounded computer background technically prepared to enter a very promising job market.   Questions and Answers about Cisco Academy
