TODAY:

Due to Altoona Area High School having a Spring Sports Meeting during 1st period, we may have some students arriving late.  Please have them report to Tami Kaylor if  you have already taken your attendance.

Friday, March 12:

THERE IS NO SCHOOL AT THE GACTC!  We are NOT in session due to an in-service day at the GACTC as well as some of the other sending schools:  Hollidaysburg Area, Glendale and Williamsburg.   Altoona Area has a conference day.

    Some of the sending schools are in session:  Bellwood, Bishop Guilfoyle, Central, Claysburg-Kimmel, and Tyrone.

    If in doubt, please check with your home schools as to whether you are in session or not.

Daylight Savings time starts this coming weekend!  Remember to turn your clocks ahead!  (Spring forward.... )

Monday, March 15, Tuesday, March 1, and Wednesday, March 17:

Altoona Area will be administering the PSSA District Assessments tests on the above dates.  You will have some of your students arriving around 9:55 - 10:00 on these dates.  Please instruct them to report to Tami Kaylor in our Attendance Office upon arrival.  She has been provided a list of those students who will be arriving late.

There will be an Emergency Weather Exercise held.  Teachers, please review with your students the procedure to follow and the designated area to go when the drill begins.  An announcement will be made advising you when to return to your classrooms.  STUDENTS:  Please do not stand in front of doorways or windows!

 There will be a faculty meeting in C-237 after school!

Friday, March 19:

ATTENTION ALL STUDENTS!  Please read the posters throughout the building regarding the Benefit Social for one of your fellow students!  Tickets are available from Tami Kaylor in the GACTC Attendance Office.

SCRAPPIN    FOR A CURE!

Join the GACTC Relay for Life Team and SCRAPBOOK ALL DAY THIS COMING SATURDAY, March 13th, from 9am-6pm to benefit the American Cancer Society.  Not a Scrapbooker? Pass this information on to your family and friends.  For $25 (tax deductible donation), you can Scrapbook all day in the school’s cafetorium.  Your lunch will be included, plus a goodie bag from local Scrapbooking vendors and mini classes/demonstrations throughout the day.  Don’t miss this fun day – and raise money for the American Cancer Society! Call Lois or Becky in Practical Nursing, 946-8490, Ext. 1286, for tickets.

Reliance Bank Scholarships [2] ($1,000) - due March 17.

Sgt. Brandon Adams Memorial Scholarship (Computer Prog., Computer Tech and Multimedia) - $250-due March 17

The Finelli Scholarship (Building Trades) - $1,000 - due March 17

The Aaron Stuckey Memorial Scholarship (Auto Tech, Auto/Diesel, and OPE) - $500 - Due March 17

New:  Altoona Kiwanis Scholarship for those students going to Penn State Altoona - Due March 17.

The Scott Garlick Memorial Scholarship (Electronics) - $500 - due March 29

The Hite Scholarship (Electronics & Electrical Trades) - $500 - due March 29

New:  Information is available in the Guidance Office pertaining to the New Economy Technology Scholarship, sponsored by PHEAA.  If you are a senior and are pursuing a two year associate degree or a certificate program after high school, stop in to see if you are eligible for this scholarship money.  Many of our programs are eligible.  Don’t let this great opportunity pass you by.
