Graduation

A diploma is presented at graduation.  In order to graduate from the Practical Nursing Program the student must:

1)  achieve a minimum test average of 75% and a minimum final course grade of 75% in

     all theory courses.   

  1. 2)satisfactorily meet all clinical objectives.

  2. 3)pay all graduation fees and outstanding debt.

  3. 4)complete 1,500 program hours.

Graduates are eligible to apply for the National Council Licensure Examination for Practical Nurses.


The Blair County Career Link collaborates with the Practical Nursing program in assisting with placement of individuals upon graduation.


Certain instances prohibit the State Board of Nursing from issuing a license to individuals convicted of a felony.  The Board shall not issue a license or certificate to an applicant who has been convicted of felonious acts prohibited by the act of April 14, 1972 (P.L. 233, No. 64), known as “the Controlled Substance, Drug, Device and Cosmetic Act,” or convicted of a felony relating to a controlled substance in a court of law of the United States or any other state, territory or country unless:  (1) at least ten (10) years have elapsed from the date of conviction; (2) the applicant has satisfactorily demonstrates to the board that he has made significant progress in personal rehabilitation since the conviction such that licensure of the applicant should not be expected to create a substantial risk of harm to the health and safety of patients or the public or a substantial risk of further criminal violations; and (3) the applicant otherwise satisfies the qualifications contained in or authorized by this act.


As used in this section, the term “convicted” shall include a judgement, an admission of guilt or plea of nolo contendere. An applicant’s statement on the application declaring athe absence of a conviction shall be deemed satisfactory evidence of the absence of a conviction, unless the board has some evidence to the contrary.
