Masonry students at the GACTC learn theory and basic skills of the trade. Students have the opportunity to go outside the classroom and work at the GACTC house project. At the project, masonry students start by forming and pouring the footers, lay the concrete block foundation, pour the concrete floors in the basement and the garage. Once the framing is complete, the masonry students will brick case the house, install ceramic tile in kitchens, bathrooms, or any place needed. Concrete patios, sidewalks and driveways will be installed. The students learn how to set forms, place the concrete, and finish the surface. Students also learn how to stamp concrete.

Masonry students get involved with projects on the grounds at the GACTC or other schools and businesses in the Blair County area. Students take field trips to business and construction sites in the Pennsylvania area.

Besides learning the masonry skills, students learn work ethics, how to work as a team, and the importance of good attendance.
