Drafting|design technologies
Drafting/Design Technology is directed towards preparing high school students & adults who will apply for admission to an accredited four-year college or university, Commonwealth campus, junior college or technical school and/or upon graduation, enter the workforce as technicians, engineering aides, draftspersons or CAD operators in various fields.
The program is intended to give the student an opportunity to develop essential skills in, but not limited to, the following:
•Engineering drafting and graphics
•Mechanical conceptualization
•Application of mathematical tools to solve geometry
•Problem solving through determination of design intent
•Understanding of industries & manufacturing processes
•Industry standard technology of design & reproduction
•Architectural drawing and materials of construction
• Attitudes and work habits relative to the standards of the industry.
This program offers the student an important opportunity to begin learning a useable technical trade and prepare for future educational goals.
The student should possess an interest and strength in mathematics, experience with computers, and be able to work well individually, in teams and in a group setting.
