RETAIL                                              MARKETING/ENTREPRENEURSHIP

Instructor:  Marie Potter

Course Description

The Retail Marketing/Entrepreneurship program is a three-year program designed to prepare students for positions in the retail merchandising fields.

Retail Marketing/Entrepreneurship is a program for upbeat, outgoing, career-minded people.   Retail Marketing/Entrepreneurship is an instructional program that deals with preparing individuals in the fields of sales, distribution, and marketing operations.  These fields focus on the process of direct wholesale, retail buying and selling techniques.

Marketing education prepares individuals to perform one or more marketing functions such as selling, promotion, product/service management, distribution and marketing information management.  In addition,  Retail Marketing/Entrepreneurship emphasizes technical knowledge of products and/or services marketed, communications, economics, technological and computer skills, and the ability to deal with attitudes associated with human relations.

Students receive in-depth instruction as well as hands-on experience in entrepreneurship management concepts, business economics, business law, business ethics, communications, and human relations.  Students will receive training in product/services, business layout, pricing, financial records, competition, profit, risk management, customer service, decision-making, leadership, and business plan development.  While in this program, students will have the opportunity to work in a real business situation ("the Store").  Individuals will get to experience working with the public in a fun and exciting environment.  E-mail us at:  thestore@gactc.com.

Retail Marketing/Entrepreneurship participates in the student organization, DECA (an Association of Marketing Students) which provides students with the opportunity to become involved in many exciting activities related to their marketing curriculum.  There are three levels when competing (districts, states, and nationals).  We are proud to be a member of the National Retail Federation (NRF), a national organization for people who specialize in sales and customer service.
