technicians, engineering aides, draftspersons, or CAD operators in various
fields.
The program is intended to give the student an opportunity to develop
essential skills in, but not limited to, the following:
- Engineering drafting and graphics
- Mechanical conceptualization
- Application of mathematical tools to solve geometry
- Problem solving through determination of design intent
- Understanding of industries and manufacturing processes
- Industry standard technology of design and reproduction
- Architectural drawing and materials of construction
- Attitudes and work habits relative to the standards of
the industry
This program offers the student an important opportunity to

Job Outlook
The Drafting/Design Technology field is
continually growing, especially with the addition of Computer Aided Drafting
(CAD) to the marketplace. The need for proficient CAD operators and skilled
draftspersons is ever growing, and it appears that the demand for these people
in the job market will follow this trend and continue to grow.
Further Education Opportunities
Educational opportunities exist at technical schools, junior
colleges, most Commonwealth campuses, and at accredited four-year colleges and
universities.
