                                    Together, We Do Great Things!

We take great pride in our mission to provide students and alumni with the resources, support, and opportunities needed to define and realize their vision of career success and service to a changing community.

A major part of our work involves facilitating the mutual benefit of employers with recruiting needs and students and alumni seeking full-time employment opportunities, part-time and temporary work, and internships.

Employer Services

Employers benefit from the relationship with the Professional & Career Development Services/Job Placement Office as a way to relay information to the students regarding opportunities within their organizations.

Employers may fax us a copy of their job announcements that include the following information:

bulletDuration of Employment (Part-time or Full-time)
bulletSkills required of the potential employee
bulletContact person’s name, address and telephone number
bulletClosing date for applications and resumes

GACTC maintains year-round job placement assistance to completing students and recent graduates of our adult classes. This service builds on the job-seeking skills students learn in their vocational classes. In addition, the Job Placement Office sponsors an annual Spring Job Fair, as well as employment-related seminars and workshops throughout the year.

What the Placement Office Offers to our Adult Students

The CTC offers placement services to assist students in acquiring employment. This service is available to all eligible graduates. It includes:

bulletAssistance with resumes and cover letters
bulletAdvice on how to dress for an interview, interview techniques
bulletReferrals and (in some cases) recommendations

The Job Placement Coordinator stays informed of the current needs and demands of local employers through contact with business offices and companies. The Career Services Office provides job leads to those students who meet the qualifications for the position. The school does not guarantee placement, but every effort is made to assist the student with his/her employment search. Placement records clearly illustrate the effectiveness of the school's efforts and the efforts of those students who apply themselves to their studies and job search activities.

Job Placement Registration

To register for job placement services, students must meet ALL of the following criteria:

bulletMust be referred by their instructor after completing vocational program competencies
bulletMust be "job ready," demonstrating sufficient technical and employability skills to succeed in a training-related job
bulletMust complete the Career Development Survey Form and attach a current resume that accurately conveys their relevant skills, education, and experience. Assistance with creating a resume is available through the Job Placement Office.

An up-to-date listing of temporary, part-time and full-time job vacancies from businesses, private industry, and social services and government agencies is posted on the "Jobs Board" which is accessible to current students and graduates.

Graduates are encouraged to register with the Placement Office so they will be notified of job openings relating to their chosen fields.

Graduate Placements

The CTC compiles a database of graduates from the school who might be seeking employment. We assist employers in placing recently graduated students or graduates who wish to change employment.

Our follow-up survey showing placements for adult students enrolled in the intergenerational and full-time adult programs in 2005-06 is available for review.
