Automotive/Heavy
Duty Vehicle Maintenance

The
Automotive/Heavy Duty Vehicle Maintenance program is a program where students move throughout the
auto/diesel areas repairing all types of vehicles, including passenger cars,
light and heavy duty trucks, vans, station wagons, and two and four-wheel drive
vehicles. Students gain "hands-on" experience in engine tune-up
and testing, standard and automatic transmissions, front end alignment,
carburetor, and ignition systems. Learning to understand the electrical,
electronic, and mechanical components requires the knowledge of up-to-date
diagnostic equipment, which is a vital part of the course. The
dynamometer, visualiner, engine analyzer is taught. Graduates are prepared
to take the Pennsylvania Vehicle Safety Inspection Examination. Students
may also qualify to become ASE-certified mechanics.
Cabinetmaking/Finished

The
Cabinetmaking/Finished Carpentry program provides the training and skills needed
to become a skilled wood craftsman. Cabinetmakers work with wood creating things
of usefulness and beauty. They provide fine furniture, kitchen cabinetry, doors,
molding, etc. Students learn how to identify and safe operation of hand tools,
power tools, and building materials common to the trade. Application of these
tools in joinery, adhesives and gluing, shop drawing, cost estimating, milling,
and wood finishing is taught.
Carpentry/Construction

The
Carpentry/Construction program that provides students with the skills and
knowledge to become a construction carpenter. In this training, students learn
to use both hand and power tools, trade math and blueprint reading. They also
develop the techniques utilized in layout foundations, rough framing, assembling
stairs, and interior and exterior finish. Estimating, purchasing and cost
procedures are also included. Carpentry requires the ability to solve
arithmetical and geometrical problems quickly and accurately, good physical
condition and manual dexterity.
Collision
Repair & Refinishing Technology

The Collision Repair
& Refinishing Technology program is designed to provide students with the
skills and knowledge used to repair automotive bodies and fenders. Instruction
is given in the removal of dents, repair of cuts, methods of refinishing, types
of finishes, replacement of parts, repair and replacement of upholstered parts,
and electrical and mechanical controls related to windows, doors and air
conditioners. Students will learn how to repair and replace sheet metal panels
using welding equipment.

The Culinary
Arts program trains individuals for employment with the food industry. Students
utilize the school's most modern kitchen training facilities for various kinds
of food preparation. Instruction is given in areas such as nutrition,
sanitation, tools and equipment, short order cooking, quantity food preparation,
baking, meat cutting, cafeteria work. Students have the opportunity to perform
their skills in the school's restaurant, deli and cafeteria.
Dental
Assistant

The Dental
Assistant program prepares students to assist the dentist with chairside duties,
work in the reception/ business area and do various laboratory procedures.
Students will be trained to mix various dental materials, expose radiographs and
pour dental molds. While in the program, students will be involved in
observation in local dentist offices.
Digital
Printing Technologies (More info....)
The Digital
Printing Technologies program prepares individuals with the knowledge and skills
needed for employment in the printing industry. It offers a wide variety
of employment opportunities including: typesetters, desktop publishers,
layout artists, process camera operators, platemakers, press operators, and
bindery workers. Instruction provides for "hands-on" projects of
printed materials utilized in the school. The classroom operates similar
to a commercial shop in methods, procedures, and results.
Drafting
& Design

The
Drafting & Design program provides students with the skills and knowledge to
become technicians or draftspersons. Students learn to translate ideas,
rough sketches, specifications, and calculations into working drawing for
production and assembly. Architectural and mechanical drawing is taught along
with materials design and construction. Computer Aided Drafting (CAD) focuses on
using computer graphics to develop mechanical designs.
Electrical

The Electrical Trades program prepares individuals with the skills and knowledge needed to
work with residential, commercial and industrial wiring. Students learn to
install electric wiring switches, lighting fixtures, the installation and
maintenance of electrical and electronic control systems, motors and
servo-mechanical devices. Students also learn the local, state and national
codes that apply to electrical work.
Heating,
Ventilation & Air Conditioning/Plumbing (More

The Heating,
Ventilation and Air Conditioning/ Plumbing provides the opportunity for
individuals to prepare themselves in the installation, maintenance, and repair
of all types of heating, air conditioning, and refrigeration equipment, soil and
waste sanitation, venting, gas and air lines, installation of plumbing fixtures,
installation of large and small, self-contained to large, central plant type
systems of air conditioning. It also gives them the opportunity to read and
interpret blueprints and drawings. Fundamental knowledge of electrical
practices, reading schematics, electrical controls, building circuits, working
with chemicals, piping practices, types of furnaces, efficiency testing, energy
management, and related safety in all of the above curricula areas provides the
individual the opportunity to prepare themselves for the working world. Students
may apply to take the RSES Certification Exam prior to graduation.
Horticulture
& Environmental Science

Horticulture & Environmental Sciences program provides students current
knowledge and skills needed to meet the environmental concerns of the world and
expanding markets in all horticultural related fields. Students will study
at an off-campus facility that offers hands-on activities on actual public and
privately owned athletic fields, landscapes, wood lots, and other related areas.
Major study areas include: landscaping, horticulture, turf grass/athletic
field management, environmental sciences. Associated study areas include:
fish and wildlife, forestry, soil science, water resources, environmental
education, and FFA activities.
Interior
Decorating & Finishing (More

Interior Design & Decorating program prepares individuals with the skills
and knowledge utilized in the correct planning and artistic design of homes and
commercial interiors. Attention is given to harmonious color schemes, the study
of past and present furniture styles and how to arrange furniture and
accessories. Emphasis is placed upon the measuring and estimating of materials
needed for decorating, drawing floor plans, and interpreting basic blueprints
used in construction. Students will design and decorate scaled down models of
rooms as a class project.

course provides instruction in purchasing procedures, material receiving and
inspection, stock-control systems, material classifications, storage methods,
use of material handling equipment, inventory control, and distribution as well
as records systems.
Masonry

Masonry program is designed to provide students with the skills to build lasting
structures out of materials such as stone or brick. Students also learn to
work with concrete, concrete blocks, artificial stone and related materials.
These materials are used to construct walls, partitions, fireplaces, chimneys,
foundations, etc. Students learn to read blueprints and to estimate the
cost of projects and materials.

Effectively
interacting with your audience on many levels, from graphics to audio, is your
challenge in this field. Corporate web sites and interactive CD-ROMs and
training materials become your canvas in the professional world.
Multimedia system and web page design, video, animation, and scripting are just
some of the key elements in the curriculum. Your technical toolbox and
creative abilities prepare you for entry-level positions such as graphic artist,
digital media producer, and interface designer in fields as varied as
advertising, corporate communications, and law and medicine. The internet,
CDs, DVDs, and video production are all creating new avenues of artistic
expression. Students who know how to create, build, and deliver the digital
information are going to have the edge. In this program, students will
learn to navigate the digital landscape, including the worlds of video
production and multimedia technology.
Outdoor Power

The Outdoor
Power Equipment Technology program is designed to give instruction in the
following areas: two-stroke cycle and four-stroke cycle engine design,
carburetion, ignition, cooling, lubrication, troubleshooting, and overhaul
procedures. There is also instruction given on drive systems, parts
identification, ordering, inventory control, and business operations. Also
included in the outdoor power equipment field is recreational equipment, which
includes motorcycles, ATVs and outboard engines.
Precision

The
Precision Machining program prepares individuals with the skills and knowledge
to become a Machine Tool Operator in the metal working industry. Instruction is
provided in the operation of lathes, turret lathes, grinding lathes and
machines, drilling and milling machines and heat treatment operations. Further
training is provided in the latest computer numerical control machines found in
today's industry. Students may take certification tests to receive NIMS
certification.
Retail Marketing/Entrepreneurship

The
Retail Marketing/Entrepreneurship program provides students with the skills and knowledge needed for
employment in the retail industry. Students learn cashiering, human relations,
salesmanship, communications, merchandising, advertising and operations and
management. A component of the instruction will include on-site training at the
local mall. Involvement in DECA (an Association for Marketing Students)
provides students with the opportunity to become involved in activities related
to the marketing curriculum.
Welding
Technology (More

The
Welding Technology program is designed to provide students with the knowledge
and skills necessary for performing the most common types of welding. This
includes oxy-acetylene, electric arc, metallic inert gas (M.I.G.) and tungsten
inert gas (T.I.G.). Other welding procedures taught are brazing, submerged arc,
flux cored arc, and plastic welding. Students successfully completing the course
may be eligible to take the American Welding Society (AWS) Test for
Certification of Welders.
