HEALTH CARE TECHNOLOGY

The Health Care Technology Associate Degree Tech Prep program has been prepared for students who seek a career in the technical or professional career in the Health Care Delivery System.

The program will enhance the academic preparation for students who wish to seek an associate or professional degree while maintaining high academic standards in their high school program.  Health care needs people who can communicate, use logic in solving problems, and transfer the knowledge of science into the practice of their chosen career.   Through the activities in this program, the student's self esteem should be strengthened and decisions should be more thoughtful and independent.  In addition, instruction is given in CPR, first aid, anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, basic procedures in examination, care of and treatment of patients, and information on different medical careers.

The curriculum of the technical two-year program consists of teaching each student two periods each day throughout the school year.

Prerequisites for this program have been developed by the high school, the GACTC, and articulated with Mt. Aloysius College.
